Synopsis: Jaddi Sardar revolves around a joint family that is based in a village in Punjab. Due to enmity, some antagonists plan a plot and the elder brother takes a decision which doesn’t go down well with the younger one. His wife fuels up the matter even more and things go for a toss. How these relations part ways and then reconcile, is what this film is all about.

Review: From the trailer, Jaddi Sardar seemed to be an average film that may not impress but the end product was certainly impressive. The starcast was just right and each actor complimented the other in terms of performance, dialogues and overall characterization.

The best part of this film is its relatable storyline, magnetic screenplay and dialogues that are very close to real life. Dheeraj and Karan both have done a good job in writing the film in such a way that it kept us hooked to the screen for the longest time. Though the first half is more about romance and all but the length of the first half does give it enough time to bring in an interval at just the point where the audience is eager to see what’s on the other side.

The second half of the film has unexpected twists and in a way, one does relate them to one or the other characters back home as well (btheriya ajehiya hundiya ne har kise de ghar vich). Familial differences are not a new thing and many makers have tried to bring forth projects that have tried to use this subject as their central point but not many have been able to impress. Last I remember, Shareek gave me jitters. Jaddi Sardar couldn’t match Shareek’s level but it somehow managed to create a place for itself in my mind.

Talking about the actors, both Sippy Gill and Dilpreet Dhillon have performed very well, as a matter of fact, they looked like actual brothers! (I loved the scene where Sippy fires gunshots from his rooftop, oh so touching)

Such scenes made this film a winner where the writer, instead of being overdramatic, wrote a simple script that one could live himself in the theatre, through the characters.

Manbhavan has managed to carry this film well and has not let it drop t any point. The antagonists were equally powerful yet not macho for us to feel that we’re watching a fictional drama. They were shown to be cunning yet had characteristics that one could relate with.

Actors Gugu Gill and Hobby Dhaliwal were at their best and Gugu Gill’s charm was mesmerizing. Their characters were also written well. Satwant Kaur and Anita Devgn both played their parts extremely well and their chemistry was totally unmissable.

Sawan Rupowali didn’t have too much to do in the film but the actress managed to win over us with the little that she had. She looked pretty and was an apt choice for this character.

The music of this film was nice and we’ve been hearing ‘Soohey bullan waliye’ on and on since the day it released.
