Censor Board has denied permission to release Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala’s debut movie Moosa Jatt, the makers take the international route.
Says Rupali Gupta, producer, “Censor Board has verbally told us what they found conflicting in the film but changing or deleting those scenes will tamper with the story and what it stands for.” The movie was supposed to be releasing worldwide on October 1 but it won’t be releasing in India.
Sidhu Moosewala and his fans were more than excited for the artist’s first ever movie as a lead actor, Moosa Jatt. It was easily one of the most awaited movies of the year and Punjabi audiences were just getting ready to watch it when the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to approve the release of the movie in India.
Sidhu Moosewala has come out with an official statement for the first time after the film failed to be approved for release in India. He uploaded a couple of stories referring to the issue. The top artist said that this is not the first time something like this has happened to him. When he started his singing career, he had to overcome a lot of obstacles, and destiny is repeating itself when he’s releasing his first movie.
He also went on to add that he was being called ‘new’ and ignored during the initial stages of his singing career, and even today, people of the film industry are saying the same thing. But Sidhu replied to all of them saying that in this world, ‘new’ people are actually the old ones and he is surely one of them. He’s seen the colours of this world and Moosa Jatt might be his first film, but definitely not the last. ‘I have never run away from competition, what if the first film failed to get the censor certificate, the second will come, after that the third will come’, said Sidhu.
Talking about the release of the movie, he said that though the film failed to be certified in India, the release date has not been changed. It will release as scheduled in the rest of the world and he will never change the release dates of his movies. He explained the film being in support of the farmers as the reason behind the ban.
In the follow-up story the artist wrote that some people would come at him, blaming him for causing controversies. Sidhu replied that he’s on the outside as he is from inside. He ended the social media statement by saying that the movie’s been banned because it supported farmers and because it was his first-ever film.
Earlier, in an official press conference of the Moosa Jatt team following the censor issue, Rrupaali Gupta, the producer, seemed to blame the Chal Mera Putt 3 team for being one of the main reasons behind the film failing to get the certification. Chal Mera Putt 3 and Moosa Jatt were set to clash on 1 October. The future of the film Moosa Jatt is unsure in India as of now. We hope updates are provided soon!
