Describe a law on environmental protection
What is it?
How did you first learn about it?
Who benefits from it?
Explain how you feel about this law?
Introduction 1
I am aware about a few laws in my country for environmental protection. For
example: protecting the forest, saving water and protecting the wild life. However,
I wish to talk about the act on ‘Air Prevention and Control of Pollution’. It is an act
to control and prevent air pollution in India. It is applicable to whole of India.
I came to know about this law from the newspaper. I was seeing an advertisement
on air purifier and in that advertisement I read about this act. This act seeks to
combat the air pollution by prohibiting the use of industries and vehicles emitting
polluting fuels and substances. The pollutants can be solid, liquid or gaseous which
have a potential to contaminate the air.
Air is vital for our survival because air contains oxygen. This act is beneficial to all
the living creatures and our entire eco system at large. We should be aware that
everything in nature is interconnected and interrelated. This pandemic has taught
us to be responsible towards out environment. Thus, everyone benefits from this
law.
I feel great that my country has this law. It is a very thoughtful and a meaningful act.
Presence of such laws are instrumental in conserving and protecting the
environment. However, I also believe that a lot of awareness should be created
about this law so that more and more people are aware about it and many
campaigns can be undertaken for the environment.
Introduction:2
Well, the government of my country enacts various laws for the smooth functioning of the state.
What it is?
Here, I would like to talk about a very important law that has been introduced lately to protect the environment. It is quite unfortunate to see that the environment getting degraded day by day and if not taken seriously, it would lead to a dire consequence.
The biggest challenge at present is plastic waste. The amount of solid waste is constantly increasing and a major proportion of this waste is plastic. Millions of tons of plastic waste end up at landfill sites day In and day out. Since it is a non-biodegradable product it stays there forever. At the same time, it releases extremely harmful toxins and often become a cause of birds and animal’s death that feed on landfill sites.
To overcome this challenge, the government of India has completely banned the use of plastic bags. Now if people go shopping they carry their own bags usually Jute bags which are ecofriendly. Along with the ban, the government also aware the general public to say ‘No to plastic’. In fact, plastic is also responsible for ruining the beauty of public areas parks and bus stops.
Because plastic trash can be seen all around but under this law, if someone caught using plastic bags has to pay a five thousand rupees fine and the shopkeepers who keep plastic bags have to pay twenty thousand rupees fine. It is just because of this strict law and heavy penalty people have started avoiding plastic bags.
Who benefits from it? and And explain how you feel about this law?
It is resulting in a substantial decline in the amount of waste produced and keeping the environment clean and green.
Conclusion:
I hope there will be more laws that would be implemented to save the environment in future.
Introduction:3
Well, it is not wrong to say that global warming and the consequent 00 climate change are the direct outcomes of indiscriminate human activities. The increased amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere warms the earth’s surface causing serious problems.
It is comforting to know that the nations around the world are giving priority to environmental issues due to which various acts have been introduced like the environment protection act, wildlife protection act, water prevention and control of pollution.
What it is?
But here I would like to talk about a major law that is to protect the trees. I got to know about this act from a newspaper that I like to read in the morning. According to this act, no one is allowed to cut the tree if it is not in their private land. Therefore, anyone found offending this rule will not only be fined but also sentenced to non-bailable jail for 2 years. It is well said that ‘when the last tree dies, last man dies’.
Honestly, it was really significant to make this law as it is clear that millions of trees are Chopped. As a result, the ratio of carbon dioxide has increased than Oxygen. Large areas of forest land, which maintains the balance of nature, are also destroyed in the name of industrialization and urbanisation. Consequently, large glaciers in the polar region melt, Creating flood and submerging vast areas of human-inhabited land Moreover, trees are the habitat of various birds And animals and the extinction of these can really be deleterious to mankind.
And explain how you feel about this law?
Preservation of trees is imperative to prolonged life on earth.

Introduction 7
Environmental pollution is a grave concern in this modern era. Its spread is putting our health and well being in jeopardy. To curb this menace, the higher authorities throughout the world are enacting stringent laws.
What it is?
The government of our state framed a new law. Under this law, the concerned authorities have covered most of the canals with solar panels.
How you first learned it?
Last year I visited the hinterland parts of my nation for official purposes. During that time, I had a close look at the solar panels installed over the canals.
Who benefits from it?
This law is a blessing for all sections of society. Firstly the scenic beauty of the places has increased. Because the panels installed on the top of the canals have enhanced their beauty. I have seen many youngsters clicking selfies with the canal in the background.
Apart from this, the administration is the significant gainer as due to this initiative the load on conventional sources of power has decreased substantially. By making a one-time capital investment, the higher authorities are reaping the benefits.
The significant gainers are the farmers because now they get a seamless electricity supply. Earlier, they had to face hardships while farming due to frequent power cuts, however, now they work with ease because their work does not get halted due to non-availability of the electricity.
All in all, this development has led to a paradigm shift in the economy, and productivity of our state by making it a power surplus entity. I think the government needs to implement this law in the whole nation for better results.
Introduction 8
Different laws are imposed by the government for the well being of society. Nowadays, environmental concerns are increasing day by day due to human activities which become the cause of pollution. There are already several laws such as a ban on smoking places, the law against female foeticide, and also against cutting trees. But here I want to talk about a law which has been imposed by the government. I came to know about this law from the internet when I was surfing on the internet. Then I read that government has made the law against people who construct big factories and industries in residential areas because it creates a lot of problems for people. First and foremost is that it creates air pollution which put an impact on humans, marine species as well as destroys natural habitats due to the emission of toxic gases. Moreover, city dwellers who have respiratory problems, face more difficulties regarding their health sometimes it leads to death. These factories also create noise pollution which disturbs the peace of natural surroundings. Big manufacturing companies not only harm the urban areas but also put a detrimental effect on nature. After the enactment of this law, people became more aware and it was good news for local citizens. The construction of industries has been reduced to some extent after imposing this law. However, there are still some people who do not obey the rules which is not a good thing. So government need to put more restrictions on the manufacturing of products in urban areas as well as they should try to find other alternatives that will not pollute the environment. I feel that If the government will not take any strict steps against it then this problem will reach the peak which can become the cause of natural disasters.
Introduction 9
The Government of my country implements several laws which contribute to the smooth functioning of the country. I would like to bring your attention to a very important law that has been introduced recently with the objective of protecting the environment. It is extremely disheartening to see the environment getting polluted and degraded with every passing day and if the same is not taken seriously, it will have dire consequences.
The greatest challenge to tackle now is the amount of plastic waste. The amount of solid waste keeps on increasing and a major portion of the waste comprises plastic. An unmeasurable amount of plastic waste gets discarded at the landfill sites day in and out. Being non-biodegradable, it takes a lot of time to break down and tends to accumulate as waste over a long period of time. Thus, it releases very harmful toxins which have an adverse effect on the health of birds and animals who inhabit the landfill and the surrounding areas. To overcome this challenge, the Government of India decided to pass a law completely forbidding the use of plastic bags in a conscious effort to keep the environment clean. The citizens were asked to carry their own bags usually of jute, or cloth which are eco-friendly to curb the use of plastic in their everyday lives. In addition to this, the Government asked the people to propagate the agenda of saying ‘no to plastic’ with the vision to gradually ban the use of plastic completely. Plastic is also responsible for doing away with the aesthetic of parks, riversides, etc. and bus stops.
In order to enforce this law, the Courts also prescribed stringent punishments for violating the said law. If anyone is spotted using plastic bags, they shall be fined an amount of five thousand rupees, and shopkeepers who keep plastic keeps will be fined a hefty amount of twenty thousand rupees. It is because of such a strict penalty, people started avoiding plastic bags and switching to other options. This small but thoughtful change has indeed resulted in a considerable decline of the waste produced, helping in promoting greenery and cleanliness.I hope that more such laws relating to the protection of the environment get implemented soon too.

Introduction 11
The degradation of the environment has been a major problem for the last few years. There have been many efforts made to protect the environment and nature. The government had made certain laws for the protection of the environment. Many laws have been passed by the countries regarding no smoking, plastic ban, deforestation and many other things.
For a specific one, I would like to talk about the law on e-waste which was passed in May 2011 and came into action in May 2012. The main purpose of this law is to lessen the use of hazardous substances in electronic and electrical devices.
How do You know this Law?
I like reading the newspaper and developing knowledge about what’s happening around us. So the newspaper is the major source from where I came to realize this law. From the news, I obtained only the tiniest details about it, but when I discussed this with one of my friends who serves as an Electrical Engineer, he emphasized many advantages of this law and how the general public can also participate in this.
What are the Benefits of it-?
There is no law passed on the environment which has no benefits. Even a small effort made for the environment is a quite big help. Likewise, there are several advantages of the e-waste law. It conserves the environment and reduces business costs to a great extent. It assists non-renewable recycling and presents eco-friendly credentials. This law makes the recycling of e-waste super simple. It also contributes to decreasing carbon emission into the air. As an outcome, it will benefit the earth and the environment.
H4 How do You Feel about this Law?
In short, I would like to say that this law actually takes my interest and how we could assist the environment by only using electronic devices that we utilize in our daily life. Whenever I get an opportunity to talk about this I would love to share this knowledge with others so that they would get familiar with this and participate in the same.
Introduction 12
People, as well as the government, have taken several measures to protect the environment. Nature is a crucial aspect for human beings. Some people take it for granted, but some of them try to make efforts and cooperate to save the environment. Likewise, the government has also presented a few laws in order to conserve the environment.
One of my favourite laws or say the one which I believe can make a big difference to save the environment is the law banning the use of plastic carry bags. If we avoid using plastic carry bags, it can make a huge variation for the environment and save the earth.
How do You know this Law?
When I was in school, I was extremely delighted to be a part of the nature club. There I got to know about this law banning the use of plastic carry bags. The nature club in our school used to hold seminars and campaigns regarding this law from which I learned everything about the law. I enjoyed taking part in the campaigns and participating as a helping hand for nature. I used to love speaking and spreading information about the law whenever I got the opportunity.
Follow up Questions
- Can you suggest some other laws to save the environment that you are
aware about?
Well, not many but I have heard of a few of them. There is a law for not using
plastics as far as I know. Then I guess, no tree should be cut without
permission and also forests should be conserved. Then there is an act to save
water and also protection against cruelty of wild animals.
- What are the advantages of having laws on nature conservation?
Having laws to protect the nature is always very beneficial. Whenever there
is a law on something people take it seriously and think ten times before
breaking a law. Breaking a law would lead to punishment and so it is a sure
shot way to protect the nature to a great extent.
- How to create awareness among people about the existing laws on
environment?
This can be done in lot of ways. The best way to do it is by publishing it on
social media. People use that medium a lot. There could be jingles, posts,
competitions and banners. Hoardings can also be put on the road so that the
people who pass by can read and sensitize themselves.
- What can be some other ways to protect the environment apart from
laws?
Apart from the laws, the people can be motivated to save the earth and the
biodiversity. Awareness camps should be run about how the environment is
in danger because of the land, air and water pollution. People who do
something for the nature should be given incentives.
- Which institutes and organizations should support in environmental
protection?
Each and every institute and individual can do their bit and contribute
towards supporting the environmental protection because it is everyone’s
responsibility. Some institutes that I can think of are schools, corporates,
non-government organizations and universities.
